Shoeless
(2002)

When all the time you're feeling blue
you can feel better starting with a shoe

Draw out the laces and undo the bow
slide out of them and stretch your toe

As you rip off your socks smile! you're free!
jump around, run; feel the lawn and see

Nothing is better than a lay in the grass
to watch the clouds as they slowly pass

So you see a sad person just smile and say
have you taken off your shoes today?

I must sleep...
(2003)

laying sleeping dreaming
away in a land far from home
where my sandy feet meet the foam
in a land far away from home

whispering lingering echoing
the lullaby language of the sea
drifting me far away, I'm free
sleepy language of the sea

resting breathing sighing
I turn away in my bed
where waves of emotion are said
on the night shore of my bed

aching breaking hurting
my eyes now open wide
there is a dream that is at my side
with my arms stretched open wide

no......I must sleep...

Dandelion Wish
(2003)

I see it, I see the leaves rustling in the wind
the wind that ruffles your hair
you look at me from afar
those eyes, those pale blue eyes
happy in the light that dances in the sky

the leaves kiss your face as they pass
swirling off into the infinite sky of blue
joining the dandelion puffs that float
with the clouds making wishes
come true to those who believe

You dig your hands into warm pant pockets
as you trudge through the endless river of fallen leaves
kicking them up to let them come alive for a
moment
then watching them fall back towards warm mother earth

You look up in surprise
Your steps have brought you right up to me
And in that moment I wish I could come alive
like the leaves that reach out to touch you
in one soft, whispery caress
to find in a trembling moment
an infinity of bliss...

Lazy Bliss

(2003)

A drunken wind sways the green of the trees and the hammock underneath,

as the weaving of the little hammock stretches under the lazy weight of bliss.

The sun peeks in and out of the branches smiling with every glance

scattering patches of warm sunshine through the shadows of the trees.

Dandelion heads explode with every puff of air and float up to the sky

joining the sailing clouds towards the invisible end of the earth.

Wind chimes delicately ring through the silence of sunflowers closing their petals

while the sun splashes ravishing oranges and reds across the western sky.

Buzzing of beetles and crawling of June bugs fill the night air

as the chirping of tiny gleaming frogs join in the chorus.

With every chirp a star shines brighter in the sky like

an ocean of diamonds twinkling in time to the nightly music.

And at the climax of the noise of the night a bright orb fills the sky

trailing moon dust as it journeys across the heavens.

Then for a brief and sudden moment the moon spills moonlight upon the earth

pouring it into every crevice making it gleam like a jewel.

As it travels further and further away a smiling face appears in the east and

the open arms of a sunrise welcomes a new summer's day...

A LEAF’S CARESS

A graceful, playful wind swoops
And swirls, a kaleidoscope of colors
Crisp
Sun kissed
Stars
Of lemon, raspberry, and orange.
Fall’s colorful dervishes whirling
Gracing the sky for an instant
Of glorious
 And wild
Abandon.
A cold wind stings the cheek
As the leaves dance around us
Wwwhispering

Sssecrets
Of new life
Underfoot the crinkle of a thousand loamy leaves
Crunching sad farewells from their endless beds
In this their last embrace with the good earth… and us
Before they are silently made anew.

SNOWFLAKE’S  SPARKLE

Gently, softly, snowflakes dance
Gliding, twirling, they glisten
Icy dancers of the air
Transfixed we watch in quiet wonder
As they shake brisk Winter awake
As they silently dust landscapes
Filling the world with fluffy snow
Weighing branches as winds blow
Sparkling, twinkling in the light
Now is water, dazzling ice

As we go we crunch and sscruncch
Feeling winter’s freezing touch
Nipping at our hands and cheeks
Exhilarated, we run to see
Blinding skies,  steep majesty
All gleaming stone and powdery sleep

Feel it sharp, the wetness, cold
Throwing soft, wet balls of snow
At iced evergreens, bare faced trees
Till met with showers instead of leaves
Slipping, sliding, such laughing grows
We fall to pillows of feathery snow
And wreaths of fog rise from the nose
As we gaze in awe on all we behold

Spring Alive!
(2003)

Mother of earth kisses
snow as she passes
with small flowers blooming
in silvers and brasses.

Birds of a feather
nesting in trees
hardworkers buzzing
the sound of the bees

Open your windows
open your doors!
Let in the sunshine
we all had prayed for!

the wind is a blowin'
the animals waking
feelin' the ground as it
moves with a shakin'

Spring is alive within
all of our hearts
happy and joyful,
refreshing new start!

SUMMER
(2003)

Sweat. It dribbles down my nose as I lay in the grass in wonder.
Front lawns are the best place to lay and wonder.
In the shade of the weathered oak it occurs to me that there is no life left in me.
The sun has sucked my energy dry through its enormous straw in the sky
As I swam through the heavy air called summer.
As soon as the sun was finished with me I crawled to the cool shade of the trees
For they are my oasis where I lay to rest.

Breathe. My chest slowly rises and falls absorbing the sweetness in the air.
Sweet with cut grass, and smoke from grilled hotdogs roasting on a flaming grill.
Cool as the droplets of water from glasses of lemonade
That dribbles down my sun kissed arms.
Glorious as the sunsets that melt the sun like a pad of butter into the west.
Breathe in. Breath out. Breathe in. Breathe out.

It takes a couple a breaths to absorb it all.

A Heart’s Hope
(2003)

I wish it was raining
As sun shines in my eyes
So the room would fill
With the sound of my sighs

Each smile I see
As it passes by
Teases my heart
While inside it cries

Why do I feel
When I cringe in pain
Why do I cry
When it's always the same

I wish my tears
Could blot out the sun
I wish my pain
Would never have come

I wish each drop of
Rain could wash away my tears
Dripping them away
Never again to appear

I wish each blade of grass
Would kiss my face
Smooth and green
Where I lay in its embrace

I wish the moon
Could hold me close
And be there always
When I need it the most

Why do I cry
If I can't feel my heart?
Why am I alone
Did I not do my part?

I saw the stars as they
Appeared in the night
Wishing on each one
As they were shining bright

I wish I may
I wish I might
See my hearts love
By dawn’s hopeful light…

Ignited Longing
(2001)

                      Longing blue

shadows lap upon the shore of rose colored lips

Golden light slipping across a buttered earth - Midnight blue spreads wings

concealing ignited figures – Lips embrace, caressing, touching, longing for

one another – Adrenaline flowing, steaming air filling lungs – Static

fingertips electrify skin and hearts – Soft creamy flames

slowly die away in the night
